Scuba Gear
The impact salt water can have on Scuba gear can be both subtle and blatant.
Salt has forever plagued both commercial and recreational divers, binding and jambing equipment, seizing zips on
wet & drysuits and progressively shortening equipments workable life. It miight be a beautiful world beneath
the sea, but it comes at a price and can make even the best of equipment look horrible after several dives due to
the onslaught of salt and its corrosive effect!
Removing salt effectively without causing problems to metal, glass, rubber, fabrics, etc. has not been easy.
Care has to be taken in selecting the right product that will remove salt, but not attack metals, fabrics and
lubricants essential to the equipments functions.
When used as directed, SALT-X SX50 will remove all salt and salt film from both external and internal parts of
your dive equipment! As aggressive as SX50 is in removing even long term salt buildup, it will NOT harm rubber,
fabrics, metals, glass, etc.

Above is a 30+ yr old Conshelf 14, will a lot of corrosion. It
has not been serviced for a few years and
is used most weekends.

The same Conshelf after an overnight soak in SX50, still needs
to be serviced.
The regulator in the pictures was soaked in a 1 - 35 mix of SX50 and fresh water and is still a very servicable
old 'work-horse'. The inside of the second stage was also heavily corroded, but for many this is out of
sight so out of mind. The modern regulators have non-metalic second stages, but still build up corrosion on the
internal workings, making them sticky and more prone to malfunction.
Fabrics such as BCDs and Wetsuits can benefit from the same treatment:

Seaquest Weight pouches.
Before, then after a 1 minute soak in SX50!
Rinsing your equipment in fresh water goes a long way but does not get rid of all the salt, a residue still
remains. Salt-X SX50 neutralizes and removes all the salt so it cannot reduce the life of the fabric or equipment.
Plus your BC & wetsuit will be more supple and comfortable.
Salt-X SX50 is Diverite's recommended salt removal solution.
SX50 is also great for spraying down underwater camera gear if it's too big to immerse. This will get rid
of all the residual salt that can get into seals, sticks to the outside and can get onto your hands when
unloading your camera from the housing.
Keep a spray bottle of SALT-X SX50 solution handy to spray your camera gear between dives, particularly if
you have to open an underwater housing to change media.
It's also a fast way to clean down underwater scooters, and wash off tanks, particularly bare aluminium ones,
plus keep corrosion off the valves.
If you own a Dive Shop or are a Dive Tour Operator, using SX50 will add several years the life of
your hire dive gear, wetsuits and BCs especially. Plus regs will be easier to service. With the costs involved
in replacing hire equipment, that makes sound economic sense!
How to Use:
Simply mix SALT-X SX50 as directed and hold in a screw top barrel or bucket for dunking scuba gear,
you can also use a garden type pump up sprayer for spraying down BCs and Wetsuits on a hanger or in the bath.
Your zippers will soon improve and will appreciate the cleaning and lubing provided by the SX50 protective
coating.
Don't rinse after using SX50!! Leave it to Air Dry on the
equipment!
Change solution when salt film does not disappear when rinsing equipment.
