Salt-X for Boat Owners

A day on the water will leave salt covering virtually everything! Once dry, salt crystals are clearly visable and unless removed will corrode and degrade most surfaces it is stuck to, metal trim, sails, rigging, motors, trailers, paint work, fishing tackle, salt will over time destroy the lot.

Salt is very challenging to remove, it bonds firmly to any surface forming a corrosive film! The more frequently a surface is exposed to salt, the worse this film becomes!

Washing with fresh water will remove some surface salt, but will NOT get rid of the film, this takes aggressive scrubbing with copious amounts of water! Fresh tap water is treated with chemicals to make it safe to drink and these chemicals can also be corrosive and leave a film of their own, (marks on your car’s duco after a wash?) so using tap water is almost self defeating!

Hosing with fresh water also forces salt into cracks and crevices where it can accumulate and become even harder to remove!

Salt-X products provide a simple way to remove and neutralize salt.

The first application might take longer to remove an accumulation of salt, but once this has gone and the Salt-X protective coating is in place, the wash down and salt removal process becomes much simpler and faster.

For a thorough salt removal wash, use Salt-X Buster 50. Containing a high grade, but mild detergent, simply apply, leave for 5 mins them rinse.

Buster 50 can be used on virtually everything, your covers, clears, all surfaces including sails, even your wet weather gear!

A soft hair broom and bucket the easiest way to give your boat a thorough going over, however, a sponge or pressure sprayer also work well. Do a section at a time with Buster 50, then leave for 5 minutes before rinsing.

If you are not using your boat for an extended period, an occasional coating of Salt-X SX50 will control any salt build-up as even a windy day can coat your boat with salt.

Salt-X can be used in the cabin and below deck areas. Use Salt-X on your metal fittings, trims, fabrics and surfaces to eliminate the salt tackiness, and clean at the same time. Spray diluted SX50 or Buster 50 and use a soft cloth to wipe over everything, even your boats electronics.
